os 2 warp iso download

We can download an installation ISO image for OS/2 Warp 4 from WinWorld, available here. The image I downloaded is IBM OS2 Warp 4.52 (4.52.14.086_W4), the last retail image of OS/2 Warp 4 with all previous system updates, similar to "Windows XP with SP3".

The downloaded archive contains two ISO images, Boot and Client. The Boot ISO is used for starting the OS/2 installation wizard, and later the installer will tell you to take the Boot CD out and insert the Client CD with OS files.

kLIBC can be downloaded from Arca Noae's repo (the company that maintains ArcaOS). It's free, and is available as an exe file. Download klibccfg_1_0_2_2.exe from this page on Arca Noae repo, copy into VM, and install.

The next thing is ANPM, ArcaOS package manager, based on RPM and YUM. ANPM is free itself and can also be downloaded from the page on Arca Noae repo. Download anpm_1_0_5.exe in folder 105, copy into VM and install.

After installation, double click folder Arca Noae Package Manager on desktop and launch ANPM package manager. On the first start, it will need to download an RPM and YUM environment and will let you choose an architecture:

After the download is complete, ANPM will ask about the target drive, select drive C. But do not reboot yet after installation is done. There is a bug with ANPM installation process that will fail to change some settings, causing RPM and YUM to work abnormally. We need to do the edits by hand.

Why download Firefox directly? Because the RPM packaged Firefox is only available in Arca Noae's paid software repo, and the free repo we're using right now doesn't have Firefox available. But this will not stop us from downloading Firefox ourselves.

Since Arca Noae's repo is located out of mainland China, if you happen to be in mainland China, you will need to wait patiently for the low download speed. In the meantime, YUM may tell you that Rpmdb checksum is invalid; you may safely ignore them.

I choose the second link, Firefox v. 45.9.0 (15/4/2019, Dave Yeo). This version corresponds to the i386 universal version for Firefox 45.9.0. Theoretically, you may download the first Firefox v. 45.9.0 (Optimized version for Pentium M, 26/5/2019, Dave Yeo) optimized for Pentium M, but I haven't tried it.

Now that I've figured out all those problems I've created a guide with specific instructions on how to get all major versions working on VirtualBox, complete with sound, video and network in some cases, and you'll find those guides below. I also created prebuilt virtual machines you can just download and press play on.

Where to download drivers/files: IBM FTP site _x/ IBM US web site (For IBM PC sites in other countries, begin at ) (For users who are very familiar with SCSI, hardware, and install process, jump to Appendix A ) Setting Up the Hardware: 1. Looking at the rear of the system, loosen the 3 thumb screws on the right of the system and remove the side access panel. 2. For the initial install, it is recommended that you remove all adapters and devices that are not required to get the base operating system installed. (For example, if installing multiple network adapters, only install one at this time). If a tape drive or external SCSI devices will be used, just disconnect them temporarily. After the operating system is booting without errors, add these devices one at the time. This procedure streamlines the install process. 3. Verify that the SCSI cable (part number 76H3452) runs from the on-board RAID controller to the top of the hot-swap backplane, and that there is a second SCSI cable (part number 76H3454) running from the bottom of the hot-swap backplane to the CD-ROM. 4. Install the desired number of hot-swap hard drives into the hot-swap bays beginning at the top and proceeding downward. NOTE: OS/2 currently only supports one CD-ROM device installed in the server during NOS installation. Additional CD-ROM devices can be installed into the server AFTER Completion of the NOS installation (Refer to APAR PJ24628 for more information). Verify that there is only one CD-ROM device in the server before continuing. Setting Up the BIOS: 1. Power on the system and press F1 to enter Configuration/Diagnostics. 2. Press Enter to select Configuration/Setup Utility. 3. Select Date and Time and verify the settings. Then press Esc to return to the main menu. 4. Select Start Options and verify that the First Startup Device is set to Diskette Drive 0 and the Second Startup Device is set to Hard Disk 0. Press Esc to return to the main menu. 5. If any ISA devices are installed (or will be installed) that need IRQs (or other system resources such as I/O ports or memory) reserved, choose Plug and Play and then the desired resource type you wish to reserve. Change the desired resource from Plug and Play to ISA Legacy. From the Plug and Play window, press Esc and select Save Settings. Press Enter and then select Exit Setup. Press Esc and Enter to elect Yes, save and exit the Setup Utility. 6. The server will reboot (If you receive a 162 Configuration Change has Occurred message during post, press Enter to select Continue, then Enter again. At the Diagnostic/Setup Utility window, press Esc and then Enter to select Yes, save and exit the Setup Utility). Configuring Arrays Using the PC ServeRAID II Adapter: 1. Upon initial boot, an error message similar to the following may be encountered: - Following drives not responding (oldstate:newstate:ch:bay) (ONL:DDD:2:1)(ONL:DDD:2:2) Identifiers for the following drives do not match configuration ... Press F10 - Exit without change and boot to the PC ServeRAID Configuration Diskette Version 2.23 selecting Advanced Functions, then Init/View/Synchronize Config and finally Initialize Configuration. Confirm initialization request with a Yes. 2. After initializing, exit to the main menu and select Create/Delete/Copy Log Drive. 3. Select Create Disk Array. 4. Use the arrow keys to select RDY drives for each new array. Press Enter on each highlighted drive to add it to the array. 5. Press Esc when finished selecting drives. 6. Select Define Logical Drive. 7. Select an array to define a drive on. 8. Specify the raid level for the new logical drive. 9. Specify size for the new logical drive (The maximum size for a logical drive under OS/2 Warp Server SMP v4.0 is 45 GB), and confirm with a Yes. 10. A message stating that All logical drives must be INITIALIZED after being created pops up press Enter. Confirm command to initialize the new logical drive with a Yes. If a RAID-5 logical drive was defined, a message stating that All RAID-5 logical drives must be SYNCHRONIZED after initialization pops up. Confirm synchronization of the new logical drive with a Yes. The synchronization process may take several hours to complete per logical drive. 11. After synchronization, Esc to the main menu. Choose Advanced Functions, and then backup IPS ServeRAID Config. 12. Verify that the PC ServeRAID Configuration Diskette Version 2.23 is not write-protected. 13. Enter the file name you wish to save the Config to, or press Enter to accept the default, then Yes to confirm. 14. Exit the utility, ignoring the message to back up the RAID configuration, again confirming with a Yes. Running the OS/2 Warp Server SMP Installation Program Using the PC ServeRAID II: 1. On a separate machine, copy IPSRAID.ADD from the PC ServeRAID Device Driver and Utilities Diskette onto the OS/2 Diskette 1 for CD-ROM.
